William E. Short II, Ph.D., P.E. is president and principal consulting engineer of PSE. He has over thirty years of experience in the design engineering, specification and analysis of pressure vessels, heat exchangers and process equipment, safety-relief devices and systems, piping systems and related systems and components. He also is experienced with overall project management, including scope definition, estimating, procurement, cost control and scheduling.
Dr. Short holds a Ph.D. in engineering management, an M.S. degree in applied mechanics, and a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He is a registered professional engineer and a Fellow in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Dr. Short is a past member of the ASME B31.3 Chemical Plant & Petroleum Refinery Piping Code Committee; past Chairman of the ASME Pressure Vessels and Piping Division (PVPD) Design and Analysis Committee; and a past Chairman of the ASME PVPD Executive Committee. He twice has served as a member of the ASME Nominating Committee, and continues to be active with the ASME PVP Division Senate. He also serves as a paper reviewer for the Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology.
